Election Noise, Real Priorities: Why Your Financial Plan Matters More Than Politics

October 30, 2024

We’re not really into prognosticating about elections. So, we’re not going to, and we’ll resist the urge to speculate on the one topic EVERYONE is discussing. But we mentioned it, so … box checked.

No … we’re not going to let it go at that.  Yes … we have kept up with polling trends in the battleground states as well as who called who what and how could they???

We’ve heard so many unanswered questions at this point that we begin to wonder: is the truth so painful we can’t even acknowledge it anymore? Does actually answering a question posed to you lead to your imminent destruction? And will anyone answer our biggest question: how are we going to mitigate the annual budget deficits and the elephantine National Debt? The issue’s been downplayed so much it’s starting to feel like a figment of our imagination. The policy seems simple: No answer? Don’t answer.

As far as projecting the stock market effects of one candidate’s victory over another, it’s impossible to say. But that’s why we’ve organized your portfolios to reduce your dependency on the stock market and into different baskets. Just know this: if the Democrat wins, the Wealth Training Academy will be here to help you navigate the dangerous world of Taxes, Investments, Insurance and Estate Planning.  If the Republican wins, The Wealth Training Academy will be here to help you navigate the dangerous world of Taxes, Investments, Insurance and Estate Planning.

Either way you slice it, unless those in Congress start getting along and get productive for once, taxes are going up, because budget deficits are going up. Insurance costs are going up because housing and vehicle costs are going up. Cocoa, coffee and orange juice cost more than ever and so does that cruise you’ve been eyeing since the Spring (that you wished you had booked then). Life is not so cheap anymore. It would be a really good idea to get in a room with your advisor, shut the door and turn off the cell phone (which you really don’t want to know what THAT costs to replace now).

Between the storm and the election it’s been a difficult season for everyone, but it’s almost over.  We’re here for you, so help us help you. Let us know what’s on your mind so we can create the best plan for you, regardless of who gets into or keeps office. In the meantime, take a walk outside and breathe deep. It’s actually really lovely this time of year … if you turn off the TV and look around.

Sincerely,

The WTA Investment Committee
